BELL family - Am looking for connections to the following Bell family members: Howard Bell m. Mattie Moore probably in Arch or Portales, Roosevelt Co., N.M. Children: Milton LaRoy Bell b. Dec. 19, 1922, Howard Doyle Bell, Henry Curtis Bell, & Ellen Bell. Howard & Mattie were believed to have been born in Texas. Thanks! Sherry Bell

I am seeking information on the Albert S.PEARSON family who lived in the Benson area in Roosevelt County and then moved to a farm between Floyd and Portales. I am told that Benson was once named Pearson after my ancestor and that the area was known as the Pearson Valley. I know that the family moved there in about 1905 and homesteaded but I have not been able to locate the homestead papers. The sons of the family, Willie, Sid and Fitzough, worked on the Greathouse Ranch and when Willie married, Isaac Greathouse was a witness. Any information would be appreciated.

GARRISON / LANGFORD
I am doing family research on my Garrison & Langford members. I had some Langford and possibly Garrison relatives that migrated into
Dora, N.M. around 1925 and probably remained there until about 1956. From there they moved to Cloudcroft. They were the families of James Richard Langford (b. Nov. 1870, Arkansas), Elijah E. Langford (b. Dec. 1882, Arkansas), and Calvin Barnes Langford (b. 1873, Arkansas). They lived in Garvin and McClain Co., Oklahoma before they moved to New Mexico. Do you have any information on these families in your county, or any Langfords?

I also see you have a Garrison Cemetery listed in your county index. There are two or three graves there. Could you find the names and dates of these Garrisons buried there? Thank you very much. Contact Tom Garrison

JERNIGAN, RILEY
Sharon Tingley is seeking information on Jernigan and Riley families in Roosevelt Co., NM. Her ggf, William Franklin Jernigan, moved to Portales ca 1912, and her grandfather, Tom Jernigan, was Sheriff of Portales from 1929-1933. Also seeking information on Thomas Cage Riley born 23 Dec 1872, married Lula Belle Riley (her maiden name was also Riley), specifically would like information on the parents of Lula Belle

Harold Kilmer, Clovis, NM, responded: In regard to your Roosevelt County search: The Cage Riley story is in the High Plains History. They lived near Endee before moving into the sand hills south of where Clovis is now. This was in the 1880's. The Riley's were a large family. Around 1917 Cage and his family settled in the Buchanan county west of Yeso, NM. In 1927 or 28 Cage and his two sons bought out the Martins below Taiban, NM. Cage's daughter Allie, who married Dutch Allen, and a son, Fred T. are buried near him. In the Blanco Cemetery, eleven miles south of Taiban, New Mexico the following names are on tombstones: RILEY, Allie (Allen), 1916-1935 - RILEY, Cage, 1868-1960: Lula Belle 1868-1945. - RILEY, Fred T., Dec. 7, 1895-July 91971: V. Muriel, April 15, 1909-no death date (in 1979), married Sept. 16, 1929 - RILEY, Vivian, Jan. 27, 1931-Apr. 1, 1931 : baby born & died Mar. 18, 1954. In the same cemetery there is a: RIGHLEY, Cage Thomas, no dates. I don't know if this is one of the families you are searching for or not. (This is included here with the query for general information for anyone else researching this family. Our thanks to Mr. Kilmer.)
