The Eiland Cemetery is located three miles west and one-quarter mile north of Arch, New Mexico in the eastern part of Roosevelt County. Mr. Thomas C. Eiland donated the land on which the cemetery is located. He lived one-quarter mile south of the cemetery location and had a country store and Post Office in his home. The Eiland Post Office operated from 1909-1918. The Eiland School was also located near the Eiland Store and Post Office.

The Eiland Cemetery record of graves was originally developed by the Portales, NM Chapter of the D.A.R. sometime in the 1960s. Those participating in the inventory included: Mrs. Douglas Stone, Mrs. Joe Evans and Mrs. Frank Kelt all of Portales, NM.

There are several unmarked graves in this cemetery and their names and locations were given by Mrs. Scott Davis and her mother-in-law, Mrs. W.O. Davis, Sr.; both long time residents of the Arch community and now deceased.
