Upton Cemetery

This record was given by John Russell, North Star Route, Elida, NM.

Upton Cemetery is located 4 1/2 miles south and 5 miles west of Floyd, NM on land given about 1907 by Albert Crane, brother of Mrs. Emmett Gore.  At first the cemetery was on west side of survey; a little later survey put it on the east side.  Thre was a big law suit but the last survey held.

Mr. W. G. Upton had been carrying the mail gratis from Elida to

Crane's store. When the post office was established, it was named Upton for Mr. W.G. Upton.
